VICTORIA, BC – The BC Greens are confident in the progress outlined in the first quarterly report on the Cooperation and Responsible Government Accord (CARGA) with the BC NDP.
“The achievements detailed in this report reflect a shared commitment to improving the lives of British Columbians and show that collaboration between parties can yield real results,” said interim BC Greens leader Jeremy Valeriote, MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky
“We are especially proud to see meaningful movement on key Green priorities, like democratic reform, expanded rental assistance for low-income families and seniors, accelerated investments in climate-friendly technology like heat pumps, and a full review of the CleanBC climate plan ahead of schedule. These are positive steps forward for the BC Greens and this government.”
“These wins reflect what’s possible when parties put people over politics and work together with mutual respect,” said BC Greens House Leader Rob Botterell, MLA for North Saanich and the Islands. “We entered this agreement in good faith, and we will continue to approach it with that same spirit while maintaining healthy criticism of the government where warranted.”
“Much of the work outlined in CARGA is still in progress, and we know there is far more to do on health care, on housing, on climate, and on building a democratic system that earns people’s trust,” added Valeriote.
“We are committed to holding ourselves and this government accountable to the full potential of this agreement,” said Valeriote. “As we look toward the months ahead, and toward discussions about renewing this agreement, the BC Greens remain focused on delivering outcomes—not just announcements—for people and the planet.”
The BC Greens thank the government partners for their collaboration to date. We look forward to continuing to work constructively and transparently together to create a stronger, healthier, more equitable British Columbia.
