Lək̓ʷəŋən [LEKWUNGEN] TERRITORY / VICTORIA B.C. – The BC Green Party announced today that Adam Bremner-Akins is an approved contestant for the party’s 2025 leadership contest.
“I’m excited to launch my campaign for Leader of the BC Green Party,” said Bremner-Akins. “We need someone who is invested in tackling both the cost of living and the climate crisis. My pitch: I get it. I work a minimum-wage job myself, so I know firsthand how the government’s failure to address the affordability crisis is impacting people’s lives every single day.”
“As Leader, I’ll continue the work I’ve done as an MLA candidate, on Provincial Council, and in my community—fighting for affordable housing, reliable transit, and sustainable communities. These aren’t separate battles. Protecting the environment and lowering the cost of living go hand in hand. My Green vision for British Columbia begins with respect for Indigenous Peoples and a genuine commitment to partnership—advancing reconciliation, protecting and preserving culture, and ensuring Indigenous voices are heard and respected.”
The party has now announced the full slate of three approved candidates for the 2025 BC Green leadership contest: Adam Bremner-Akins, Emily Lowan, and Jonathan Kerr.
The first official leadership contest event, “Meet & Green”, will take place on Friday, July 11 at The Nest (UBC Campus) – 6133 University Blvd (Vancouver) and online. More information is available on the party’s website.
A contestant town hall will be held in August, and a contestant debate will be held in September. Voting will take place from Saturday, September 13 to Tuesday, September 23, with the results expected the morning of Wednesday, September 24.
