VICTORIA, B.C. – In recognition of the beginning of Easter and Passover, the B.C. Greens have issued the following statement.
“As spring unfolds across our province, thousands of British Columbians of different faiths are marking the holidays of Easter and Passover,” said Dr. Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Greens. “This is a time for reflection, celebration, and peace.
“Easter, also known as Pascha, is a sacred time of year in the Christian tradition and represents hope, forgiveness, and triumph over death. May the season be filled with love and peace for the Christian communities in British Columbia and around the world who are coming together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“Passover is a time of remembering hardships overcome and the strength and perseverance of the Jewish people. As Jewish communities commemorate the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery, we offer them our warmest wishes for a celebration surrounded by community, friends, and family.
“My colleagues and I would like to offer our heartfelt wishes for peaceful and happy celebrations this week.
“Happy Easter, and Chag Pesach Sameach.”
