Party Leader
Emily Lowan is the Leader of the BC Green Party. A lifelong climate organizer, she entered politics after years of frontline advocacy, community mobilizing, and work within the labour, housing, and climate justice movements — including roles with CAN-Rac (Climate Action Network Canada) and the Corporate Mapping Project.
Her leadership is defined by a bold, hopeful vision for a province that works for the 99% — not the wealthy few. Since becoming leader, Emily has ushered in one of the most energetic periods of growth in the party’s history. Under her leadership, the BC Greens have welcomed thousands of new members, dramatically expanded riding-level organizing, and launched major initiatives such as vacancy control legislation, a tax justice campaign, and the BC-wide Fight the Oligarchs Tour.
Her focus in the BC Legislature is to hold government accountable, working closely with the BC Green caucus on affordability, workers’ rights, and building a sustainable, just economy. She has been a strong voice for human rights, Indigenous sovereignty, and meaningful climate action grounded in community power.
Emily’s political philosophy is simple: hope is a discipline, and politics must be courageous, moral, and rooted in the everyday lives of working people. She is committed to building a movement powerful enough to expand democracy, confront corporate influence, and deliver a fairer, more resilient future for British Columbia.
