Sunday August 16th | Virtual – Zoom | Online Town Hall – Stop the Billionaire Farmland Grab 🚜

August 16 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us for Stop the Billionaire Farmland Grab — Online Town Hall on Sunday, August 16, 2026. 🗓️

Across British Columbia, farmland, food security, and local communities are increasingly threatened by billionaire land ownership and concentrated corporate power.

This online town hall will bring together political leaders, farmers, advocates, and community members to discuss what is happening, why it matters, and how we can protect BC farmland for future generations.

Hear from BC Greens Leader Emily Lowan, representatives from the National Farmers Union and the Dunster Farmland Coalition, as well as Rick McGowan, a BC angler who spent 10 years fighting one of these billionaires in court.

Together, we’ll explore the effects of billionaire land acquisition on locally owned farms, rural communities, public access, and BC’s long-term food security.

We’ll also discuss what governments can do to defend agricultural land, strengthen local ownership, and make sure BC’s farmland continues to serve the people and communities who depend on it.
