Lək̓ʷəŋən [LEKWUNGEN] TERRITORY / VICTORIA B.C. – The BC Green Party announced today that Jonathan Kerr is an approved contestant for the party’s 2025 leadership contest.
“I am so excited to be running for leader of the BC Greens,” Kerr said. “The BC Greens have consistently punched above their weight in B.C. politics, and it’s time to take the party to another level. I want to build a province that is more affordable, healthier and sustainable. The BC Greens are the only Party with a long-term view that will actually make that happen. I’m ready to take the party to the next level so we can make our vision a reality.
“With the other parties stuck in a reactive mode, there has never been a better time to grow the BC Greens. As a family doctor and a local Councillor, I’ve been listening to my community about the changes they want to see in our province. As BC Greens Leader, I will work hard every day to enact pragmatic solutions to the challenges people face and to make our province more resilient.”
The party will release the names of other approved contestants in the coming days.
The first official leadership contest event, “Meet & Green”, will take place on Friday, July 11, at The Nest (UBC Campus) – 6133 University Blvd (Vancouver) and online. More information is available on the party’s website.
A contestant town hall will be held in August, and a contestant debate will be held in September. Voting will take place from Saturday, September 13 to Tuesday, September 23, with the results expected the morning of Wednesday, September 24.
