VANCOUVER, B.C. – Statement from interim BC Greens leader Jeremy Valeriote, MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky:
“On this day of remembrance and mourning, I am honoured to mourn with the Filipino community at the Provincial mass this afternoon. My heart is with the victims of the Lapu Lapu Day Festival tragedy, their loved ones, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence.”
“What happened on April 26 has shaken communities across British Columbia and the world— especially the Filipino community, who were gathered in joy and pride last Saturday.”
“Today, we remember the lives taken too soon and honour their memory. We acknowledge the profound grief carried by those they left behind.”
“To the first responders, health care workers, volunteers, and community leaders offering care and support in the aftermath—thank you. Your compassion is a light in this dark moment.”
“Let us come together in sorrow, in solidarity, and in a shared commitment to healing.”
