David Evans is running to serve as MLA because he believes British Columbians deserve better representation and a government focused on improving people’s lives and strengthening their communities.

Born and raised on Vancouver Island by a mill-working father and a school trustee mother, David has deep roots in the region. He graduated from high school in Victoria before attending university in Toronto and later spending several years working in Vancouver.

David’s career has taken him through broadcasting, writing, community service, and entrepreneurship. In Vancouver, he worked in radio, freelanced for magazines, and served as Distribution Supervisor at the Vancouver Food Bank.

For most of the past four decades, David has been self-employed. He founded Victoria’s first Zero Impact landscaping company and later built a successful community hub, café, and bakery that employed up to 20 people across three locations before its operations were transferred to a community co-operative in 2023.

Today, David operates a retail and wholesale coffee roasting business in Sooke, where he has lived, farmed, gardened, and raised three daughters. His experience as a parent, small business owner, employer, and community member has given him a firsthand understanding of the pressures facing families, workers, and local businesses.

David believes government should serve people rather than powerful corporate interests. He is concerned about rising inequality, the loss of good-paying jobs, and the long-term sustainability of B.C.’s resources, and he is running to advocate for an economy and government that put communities first.

David holds an Applied Arts Degree from Toronto Metropolitan University. He previously ran as a BC Green candidate in the 2024 provincial election, finishing third in a historic outcome for BC Greens.
