Valerie Morrison

Coquitlam-Burke Mountain

“We live in times of great change, and our government needs to direct that transformation towards a better future for the benefit of all.”

Valerie Morrison is an animator, creative professional and community volunteer who has lived in British Columbia for 14 years and has called the Tri-Cities home for more than five years.

Valerie has worked in animation for more than two decades, contributing to 12 major feature films as well as television productions, video games and digital media. Her career has included work in both large and small studios, freelance projects and leadership roles where she has balanced creative responsibilities with project management and business operations.

She currently serves as Vice-President of her townhouse community’s strata council, where she has gained experience working collaboratively on issues affecting residents and navigating differing perspectives to find practical solutions. Valerie has also volunteered with organizations and community causes, including contributing her artistic skills to public-interest and advocacy initiatives.

Valerie believes effective decision-making requires careful research, critical thinking and respectful discussion. She values hearing different perspectives and finding common ground while protecting individual rights and ensuring people have a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect them.

A major focus of Valerie’s advocacy is the future of the Tri-Cities as the climate changes. She is interested in expanding urban forests and green infrastructure, protecting residents from extreme heat and wildfire smoke and ensuring new technologies and development are managed responsibly.

Valerie is running in Coquitlam-Burke Mountain to advocate for stronger democratic representation, environmental protection and thoughtful public policy that helps guide change toward a more sustainable and inclusive future.
