Nicola Spurling

Coquitlam-Maillardville

“I’m running for the BC Greens because we can’t afford a dysfunctional majority government.”

Nicola Spurling is a small-business owner, community advocate and longtime Coquitlam resident with years of experience in political organizing, public commentary and 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy.

Nicola has operated a renovation and construction business since 2011, giving her firsthand experience with small-business ownership, project management and working directly with clients and tradespeople.

She is also deeply involved in community advocacy. Nicola sits on the board of QMUNITY, serves on the Vancouver Whitecaps Pride Advisory Committee and participates in Advocacy Canada’s Inclusion in Sports Committee. She is the founder of Tri-Cities Pride and helped advocate for the installation of Coquitlam’s rainbow crosswalk.

Nicola has been active with the BC Greens for many years and has served as the party’s Lower Mainland representative since 2017. She has also appeared as a political commentator on CBC Radio’s The Early Edition.

Her political experience includes running in the 2017, 2020 and 2024 provincial elections, as well as the 2018 municipal election in Coquitlam. Through those campaigns and her community work, Nicola has focused on representation, human rights and ensuring that people who are often excluded from public decision-making have a stronger voice.

Nicola is running in Coquitlam-Maillardville to advocate for human rights, stronger democratic representation and a political system where different perspectives are heard and governments are held accountable.
