VICTORIA, B.C. – Adam Olsen, B.C. Green Party MLA for Saanich North and the Islands and spokesperson for fisheries will convene a group of representatives from First Nations, wildlife and fish organizations, policy and advocacy groups, habitat conservation groups, the commercial fishery, and the fisheries tourism sector for a forum on wild salmon in Vancouver tomorrow.
DETAILS: Olsen is hosting the forum to seek input on the potential mandate and structure of a proposed Wild Salmon Secretariat/Commissioner. On March 1, 2018 Olsen called for the B.C. NDP government to create a secretariat or commissioner due to the fact that responsibility for fisheries in B.C. is currently fractured, leaving wild salmon and steelhead vulnerable and in decline.
WHEN: Friday, April 20, 2018. Media opportunity is 12:15-1:15 PM.
WHO: Olsen is available for media comment. Other participants may be available for comment upon request.
WHERE: Room 370, Wosk Conference Centre, 580 West Hastings, Vancouver, B.C.
