“I want to help farmers and communities produce more food locally and build a more sustainable future.”

Randy Thompson is a farmer, small-business owner, municipal employee and former truck driver with decades of experience working across agriculture, construction, transportation and local business.

Randy grew up in Richmond and began his career in the culinary industry after attending cooking school. Over the years, he also worked in his family’s construction business, radio broadcasting, film and television and a range of other industries.

His passion for farming began more than 30 years ago when he started growing garlic. He later developed a line of honey garlic hot sauces and seasonings and built the family-run Oddball Garlic Company with his wife, Patti.

Randy moved to Quesnel about 20 years ago to continue farming and expand the business. After facing weather-related challenges and crop failures, he earned his Class 1 licence and spent 10 years driving truck for Arrow Transport. He later joined the City of Quesnel, where he continues to work today.

Randy and his family remain active in the Prince George-Cariboo region, attending community events and continuing to expand their garlic and vegetable production. His firsthand experience with farming has shaped his interest in local food production, agricultural resilience and helping communities become more self-sufficient.

Randy previously served for two years on the BC Green Party’s Provincial Council and ran as the BC Green candidate in Prince George-North Cariboo in the 2024 provincial election.

Randy is running in Prince George-North Cariboo to bring his experience in farming, small business, transportation and municipal work into public service, with a focus on supporting local agriculture, strengthening communities and building a more sustainable future.
