Stephanie Hendy

Port Coquitlam

“My personal and professional experience has shown me what gaps exist in our systems and how they can best be addressed to give everyone an opportunity at vitality.”

Stephanie Hendy is a clinical exercise professional, disability-management specialist and community advocate with more than 17 years of experience working in health, rehabilitation and accessibility-related fields.

Stephanie grew up in non-market housing in False Creek, Vancouver, and has lived with a chronic illness since childhood. She was also raised by a disabled parent, experiences that gave her firsthand insight into healthcare access, disability supports and the value of mixed-income communities.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a post-baccalaureate certificate as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Her professional background includes providing exercise prescriptions for people living with chronic illness or disability, working in physical rehabilitation following vehicle and workplace injuries, and more recently working in third-party disability management.

Before entering her current career, Stephanie spent eight years working in retail, giving her direct experience with the financial pressures faced by lower-wage workers.

Stephanie has also been active in public policy and community advocacy. She worked with the provincial opposition health critic in 2016 on the issue of age restrictions for publicly funded insulin pumps, which were removed in 2018. She has contributed to forestry reform advocacy and served on the City of Vernon Climate Advisory Committee.

Transportation is another major focus of her work. In 2024, Stephanie chaired the Okanagan Transit Alliance and helped form the Valley Rail working group to explore improved rail transportation in the region.

Her political experience includes running for the BC Greens in Vancouver-Langara in 2020 and running for Vernon City Council in both a 2021 by-election and the 2022 general election.

Stephanie is running in Port Coquitlam to advocate for better accessibility and healthcare access, forestry reform and improved transportation, while bringing her experience in health, disability management and community advocacy into public service.
